Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman (PCb) Ehsan Mani has urged under-pressure national team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed to "not lose his focus by paying heed to baseless rumours".

According to sources close to the matter, the PCB chairman spoke to Sarfaraz on phone after he and his team received intense criticism due to their sub-par performances in the ongoing World Cup, including Sunday's heavy loss to India.

The board supremo reminded Sarfaraz that his team is still in the World Cup and hasn't crashed out, while they also have to play four important matches.

"Let's focus on delivering good performances in these four upcoming matches," Mani is believed to have told Sarfaraz.

Mani assured Sarfaraz that "the nation is with the team and has great expectations" of it, which is why the team must deliver in what's ahead.
