Former pacer Shoaib Akhtar on Saturday said that he was speechless after Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) cricket ground in Rawalpindi was renamed after him.

Taking to the popular social media site Twitter, the 45-year-old shared the news saying, “Humbled and honoured to share that the historic KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi has been renamed as Shoaib Akhtar Stadium.”

Akhtar added that he is “rarely ever lost for words” but he was yesterday after getting recognized for his services to the country. “I truly have no words to thank everyone for the love & respect i have received over the years,” he said.

The Rawalpindi Express, who is known for bowling the fastest delivery in cricket’s history, said that he has always tried his best to serve the country with “utmost dedication” and “passionate determination” in order to keep Pakistan’s flag high.

“Today and every day I wear the star on my chest with pride. Thank you, Pakistan. Zindabad,” Akhtar added.

The fast bowler has represented Pakistan in 47 Tests, 163 ODIS and 15 T20Is and has taken 444 wickets in total.
