SOUTHAMPTON: Australia emerged victorious by 12 runs against their arch rivals England in an exciting warmup match here on Saturday.

Chasing a tough target of 298, England batsmen showed a great fight back but in the end were all out for 285 with three balls remaining.

James Vince top scored with 64 off 76 balls with five fours while Jos Buttler played an aggressive innings of 52 from 31 balls with five fours and three sixes.

Chris Woakes also batted well to hit 40 from 44 balls with three boundaries and opener Jason Roy scored 32 off 37 balls with four fours.

For Australia, seamers Jason Behrendorff and Kane Richardson claimed two wickets each.

Earlier, Australia set a target of 298 for England after completing the 50 overs with nine wickets down in their first warmup match.

Australia has lost six wickets with 276 runs on the scoreboard in 48 overs against host team England in their ICC World Cup warm up match.

England won the toss and opted to field against Australia.
