The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) CEO Wasim Khan on Monday warned veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez and told him to explain his recent outburst questioning the board’s selection policy regarding Sharjeel Khan.

Last week, Hafeez had weighed in on a Twitter debate regarding Sharjeel’s Khan’s mooted comeback in the national team, wondering if “honour and pride” did not matter at all to the PCB – a dig at both the board and the player, who has a notorious past.

The outburst had let the PCB CEO unimpressed and to make sure that Hafeez does not do it again, he rang up the 39-year-old Professor a call on Monday, according to Daily Jang.

During the phone call, Wasim informed Hafeez of the PCB’s policy and also reminded him of his responsibilities as a player.

However, sources close to the matter said that the conversation between the two was a courteous one in general and ended on a positive note.

Hafeez reportedly told Wasim that his remarks regarding Sharjeel were from two interviews - one taken during PSL and one before. He claimed that the airing of those interviews in the recent past have led to the situation.

What Hafeez conveniently sidestepped was that it his tweet that landed him in hot waters and not airing of any dated interviews.
