Captain of the Pakistan team Sarfaraz Ahmed expressed hope for the team during the approaching ICC World Cup 2019 with the addition of Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz in the squad.

During the Captain’s Media Day presser with captains of all ten playing teams present, the Pakistani wicket keeper batsman spoke about the recent shift in the squad following the defeat at the hands of England in the recently wrapped five-match ODI.

The captain was asked about his take on replacing Faheem Ashraf and Juniad Khan with Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir to which he stated: “Definitely we lost the series, both of them are our senior players, that is why we took them. Wahab because he knows how to play wide balls. So I am very confident in my bowling attack.”

He further expressed his thoughts as the ICC World Cup 2019 is just around the corner, saying: “Its great to be a part of this tournament and great to be a captaining the team and we all are ready to play and do well in this World Cup as a team, Insha’Allah.”

During the media interaction Sarfaraz was also asked whether he would prefer to follow the steps of Prime Minister Imran Khan in bringing home the World Cup after 1992 and then later going on to become premier.

He replied saying: “I will try my best to win the world cup here but I don’t know about my future.”
