Mohammad Amir has been recalled to Pakistan’s World Cup final 15 after missing out from the preliminary squad

LONDON: Fast bowler Mohammad Amir said he was “humbled and proud” after being included in Pakistan’s final 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup.

Amir was left out of the preliminary squad after a run of poor form, but was included in the final list despite not playing in the last four one-day internationals against England due to chickenpox. Pakistan lost the five-match series 4-0 on Sunday with the first match washed out due to rain.

“Allhamdulilah, humbled and proud to be part of the Pakistan WC squad InshAllah going to give 100% and we all will try and make our nation proud, thank u all for ur support and endless duas we all need them more now. #PakistanZindabad,” the pacer tweeted after the squad announcement.

Grieving father Asif Ali, whose 18-month-old daughter died of cancer on the weekend, and veteran fast bowler Wahab Riaz were also named in the World Cup squad.

Fast bowler Junaid Khan, all-rounder Faheem Ashraf and opener Abid Ali were all included in the preliminary squad but failed to reach the final 15.
