PSL 5: Islamabad United seem to be on the right track as Peshawar Zalmi may need improvement

Peshawar Zalmi were handed a 56-run defeat by Islamabad United on Tuesday in their second warm-up game at UBL Sports Complex ahead of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 5.

United, who went up to bat first, scored 195 for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs, thanks to Ammad Butt's 44 for 18 and 25 runs from 11 balls by Rizwan Hussain towards the end of the innings.

United were on thin ice as the Red Shirts stood at 95/5 but Colin Ingram's 22 off 21 and Saif Badar's 35 off 25 made way for Ammad and Rizwan to step up.

Chasing a target of 196, Zalmi were bowled out for 139.

Liam Dawson was the top scorer with 39 runs while Kamran Akmal and Liam Livingstone scored 22 runs each.

Islamabad's Shadab Khan and Hussain Talat bagged three wickets each to complete their team's win while Zalmi's Dawson grabbed three wickets.

This is the second consecutive win for United in the warm-up matches ahead of the PSL 5, they had earlier defeated Karachi Kings at the same venue on Monday.

United will launch their campaign on Thursday with their opening game of against defending champions Quetta.
