India vs Zimbabwe T20I series schedule and squads confirmed

Shubman Gill will take charge of Team India for the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, starting July 6.

Leading the second-string side just days after Rohit Sharma guided India to a second ICC T20 World Cup victory in the Caribbean, Gill is accompanied by National Cricket Academy (NCA) chief VVS Laxman, who will serve as the stand-in head coach.

India have rewarded the performers of IPL 2024. Riyan Parag and Abhishek Sharma, who had an outstanding season, are among the fresh faces.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal will feature in the top order. Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel are the wicket-keeping options, while Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi have been included as the team's premier spinners. The seam bowling department includes pacers such as Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, and Tushar Deshpande.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe named Antum Naqvi in their T20I squad. He came to prominence at the beginning of the year when he became the first player to score a triple century for any Zimbabwean team in representative cricket.

Meanwhile, Tendai Chatara, Brandon Mavuta and Wessly Madhevere are among those who return to the 17-man squad led by Sikandar Raza for India series.

Madhevere and Mavuta are returning after they completed their suspension for drug use.
