Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu are set to play mixed doubles at the ongoing Wimbledon 2024 in what is likely to be the former’s final appearance at the Grand Slam.

Murray, 37, withdrew from the singles on Thursday as he couldn’t recover properly from his back injury but he will be in action in men’s and as well as mixed doubles.

In men’s doubles, the 37-year-old will team up with his brother Jamie. Andy Murray played in the mixed doubles in 2019 alongside the legendary Serena Williams where he reached the third round.

Murray is aware that this is his last Wimbledon appearance as he has repeatedly said that he does not intend to play after summer and the Scot is aiming to leave the court on a high note.

On the other hand, Raducanu cruised to Wimbledon’s second round after beating Renata Zarazua 7-6, 6-3 in her first match of the tournament. The 2021 US Open idolises Murray and has often spoken highly of the two-time Wimbledon winner.

“I think the biggest advice is just how he's always taken care of his operations, how he manages his people,” she said. “I think for me it's just like watching him operate day to day, watching him be absolutely on it with everything. Even in practice now, he's so on it to the minute.

“I think me, when I was a bit younger maybe, showing up 15 minutes before practice to do a few arm curls, swing my hand around and warm up, he's there for an hour and a half doing treatment. He just sets really good examples.”

It is worth mentioning that Murray underwent a back operation last month and he has been training hard to get a fitting farewell by ending the tournament on a high note.
