Andy Murray will make the final decision on Wimbledon 2024 on Monday evening but is improving after a practice session with Kyle Edmund.

Murray is nearing retirement from tennis and hopes to make a final appearance at Wimbledon. However, injury problems have threatened to disrupt his farewell plans, with the Briton admitting he couldn't 'move properly' on Saturday.

The 37-year-old legend, a two-time Wimbledon champion, has limited time left in the sport and has openly discussed retiring in 2024.

Plans for an emotional farewell at this year’s Championships were thrown into disarray when Murray sustained a back injury at Queen’s Club on June 19.

Murray needed an operation on a spinal cyst in his back and has been racing against time to get himself fully fit for Wimbledon 2024 – which began on Monday.

Andy Murray had a practice session with fellow Brit Kyle Edmund on Monday as he looks to do everything he possibly can to be fully fit for singles on Tuesday.

Murray was leading Edmund 6-3 2-0 when they reached the end of their session and his movement has clearly improved.

"It was good," Murray said afterwards. "I’m going to go and have a chat with my team now, speak to my family this evening and then make a decision.

"It’s getting better and the testing and stuff I’ve done has been good, I just need to decide whether it’s enough to compete," he added.

Murray, speaking at his press conference on Sunday, stated that he would make a decision on Monday evening regarding whether he would compete in Wimbledon 2024.

He is training with stitches in his back and continued to practice on Monday during the daytime.

Murray also expressed that he has no intentions of returning next year and emphasised his desire to experience the excitement of Centre Court once more, with the opportunity to participate in Wimbledon again.

The 137th edition of the Wimbledon will begin on July 1 and conclude on July 14. Spanish tennis player, Carlos Alcaraz won the Wimbledon in 2023.
