Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar made an interesting observation regarding Virat Kohli’s form in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 ahead of the final against South Africa which is to be played at the Kensington Oval, Barbados, on Saturday.

Kohli, 35, scored only nine runs in the semi-final against England and was bowled by Reece Topley. That was the fifth time in the T20 World Cup that he failed to score double digits.

Kohli, who was the top-scorer of the 2016 and 2022 T20 World Cups, has become the top of discussion as his form is a concern for India as well. With just one match standing in India and their first ICC trophy since 2013, much is expected from the 35-year-old to deliver in the final.

Gavaskar stated that Kohli’s head shakes too much when he is moving in the crease which makes it difficult for him to score.

"When he starts to move around, the head shakes as well. And therefore, it is not helping him. This is something you see in slow-mo as well. All that he needs to do is chill a bit and play that big hand and will give India the big score,” Gavaskar said.

The former Indian captain also added that Kohli needs to play according to his strengths and keep his body balance.

"Like I keep saying, what Kohli has to do is just play the shots that he plays with the same body balance. When he is looking to power the ball away, then he is losing his body balance and he misses the ball. So, all that needs to do is, that six he hit ]off Reece Topley]. It was brilliant balance and he just flicked the ball with the bottom hand. That's all he has to do,” he added.
