The undefeated South Africa and India are set to face off in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 today in Barbados.

For South Africa, this is their first-ever World Cup final appearance after eight tries (in the semi-finals) and for India, this is their third T20 World Cup final appearance. India won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 by defeating Pakistan and in 2014, they faced a defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka.

The two teams are filled with dangerous players who can win games for their respective teams and former cricketers Zaheer Khan and Michael Vaughan have named the players from the two teams to look out for.

“I think for South Africa it is going to be (Heinrich) Klaasen because the battle is going to be and the match-up is going to be like how all these three spinners go on about bowling in that middle phase and how South Africa is going to deal with that kind of a threat in the middle. so, Klaasen for South Africa and for India let’s go with Virat Kohli,” stated Zaheer while talking on Cricbuzz.

Klaasen has been under-performing in the T20 World Cup 2024 with 46 off 44 against Bangladesh being his highest score in the event.

As for Kohli, he has been no better than Klaasen. Opening along with Rohit Sharma, Kohli has scored only 75 runs at a strike-rate of 100 in seven innings. He also went out on a golden duck against the USA.

Meanwhile, Vaughan believes Tristan Stubbs will be the star for South Africa in the final against India, “I’m going to go with Stubbs. I love the way he has played.”

Stubbs has the highest score of 33 off 37 against the Netherlands in the T20 World Cup 2024. His other notable scores were against West Indies and Nepal where scored a 29 off 27 and 27 off 18 respectively.

For India, Vaughan believes their captain, Rohit will win the game for India if he scores well in the power-play.

“For India, I’m going to go with the skipper (Rohit Sharma). He is in tremendous form. If he wins the power-play then I think India will win the game,” stated Vaughan.

After scoring 52 off 37 against Ireland in India’s opening game of the event, Rohit went through a bad patch in the remaining group games and the Super 8 but he found his rhythm against Australia where he smashed a 92 off 41 and then against England scored 57 off 39 balls.
