Former tennis player Serena Williams talks about daughter Olympia’s special qualities

Former tennis star Serena Williams called her daughter Olympia Ohanian Jr a 'bright light' and 'athletic' when detailing her special qualities.
Serena's comments came when she was asked about her daughter during interview with the New York Times where she discussed her family, career, and rivalry with Maria Sharapova.
Olympia, Serena's first child, who will be turning seven this summer, is exploring several sports, revealed the 23-time Grand Slam champion.
Meanwhile, Serena's sister Venus, who has been awarded the number one spot in both singles and doubles, considers her niece Olympia even more talented than both of them.
"But what do I see? The 8-month-old is so tiny, but Olympia is such a bright light, and she’s so athletic, to the point where it’s just not even humanly possible. Even Venus, she was like, “That kid has more talent than you and I combined,” and she’s not lying," the former tennis player said.
The 42-year-old responded to the question by saying that she has no idea how her dad, Richard Williams, identified the qualities of a tennis player in his daughters. She doesn’t want to over-push her children.
"That’s a really good question. I don’t know. I always look at my dad, and I think, how were you able to do that? Because I’m like, Oh, they’re so cute. I just want them to relax and I don’t want to over-push them," Serena said.
However, she also mentioned that if her dad hadn’t pushed his daughters, there wouldn’t be any Serena Williams.
"But I would be devastated if I wasn’t pushed, because we wouldn’t be having this interview and there would never have been a Serena Williams. So, I feel so fortunate that I had an opportunity to have that extra oomph," she added.
Moreover, Serena is planning to get her daughter trained by her father, Richard.
"So, I can see how my dad may have seen some potential in us. I’m just trying to figure out a way to harness all that. I already told my dad, “Maybe you have to coach her, because I’m too nice. I’m too soft, yeah," Serena said.
Serena and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, who is also the co-founder and former CEO of Reddit, welcomed their second child, Adira River Ohanian, last August.
