The weather forecast has played a major role in the T20 World Cup 2024 with some key teams being eliminated in the league round.

The group-stage game between the USA and Ireland was washed out due to rain which resulted in Pakistan’s exit from the mega tournament.

Additionally, Australia defeated Bangladesh by 28 runs on Friday (June 21) via Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method (DLS) as the match was affected by rain.

Following India’s win against Afghanistan by 47 runs, the Men in Blue are all set to face Bangladesh in the second fixture of the Super Eight on Saturday (June 22) at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Barbuda.

The Rohit-Sharma-led side need a victory to qualify for the semi-finals, while this match is a must-win for Bangladesh to stay in the tournament.

As per the forecast, there is a decent 40% chance of precipitation on Saturday. However, the chances of rain would go down to 23% with 99% cloud cover.

The clash will kick off at 7:30pm Pakistan Standard Time (PST) and 10:30am Eastern Time (ET).

Indian cricketers react over weather forecast

India batter Suryakumar Yadav recently opened up on the issue by motivating the team to play well regardless of the conditions.

“If have you been number one for two years, you should be able to bat in different conditions and change the game as per the needs of the team. That displays good batsmanship, and that is what I try,” said Suryakumar during a media interaction.

“It’s difficult to generate that force when there’s no pace on the wicket and when someone has read your game nicely. So, at that time, you have to be very smart how you want to extend your innings,” he added.

If the match is washed out, then both teams will be awarded a point, and through this, India will move to the top of the table as they have already won their first fixture against Afghanistan on Friday.

India will be playing their third and final match of the Super Eight against Australia on Monday (June 24) while Bangladesh will be facing Afghanistan on Tuesday (June 25).
