Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan likely to get demoted from Category A in PCB central contract

Work on a new central contract for the national players is in progress

Pakistan's white-ball skipper Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan are expected to be demoted from Category A in their central contracts with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after the Men in Green were knocked out from group stage of the T20 World Cup 2024, sources informed Geo News.

Sources close to the situation disclosed that work on a new central contract for the national players is in progress.

A new, smaller selection committee will be established to finalise the central contracts.

However, the salaries of the national cricketers will remain unchanged.

The competition proved challenging for the Green Shirts, who failed to progress beyond the league stage.

The team faced a surprising defeat at the hands of the United States and also lost a match to India, a game that was initially in their favour.

This double setback prevented their advancement to the Super 8 round, marking a disappointing end to their campaign.

Sources also said that Shan Masood is likely to be retained as the red-ball skipper for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.

Earlier, Geo News reported that Masood, head coach Jason Gillespie, and the selection committee have begun discussions related to Pakistan’s squad for the Test series against Bangladesh.

Babar, Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi may be rested for the Test matches against Bangladesh, whereas Haris Rauf’s inclusion in the squad is not even being considered.

Saud Shakeel, Abdullah Shafique, Salman Ali Agha, and former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed are being considered for the final squad.

As for the fast bowling department, Naseem Shah, Shahnawaz Dahani, Mir Hamza, Khurram Shahzad, and Aamir Jamal are under consideration for selection.

Jitni inki gandi performance Hai in dono Ki demote Kiya Karna, central contract say he farigh kar Dena chahaye. Qoum K Jazbat K sath kheltay Hain yeh or inki ayashiyaa nhi Khatam hoti, yeh harein ya jeetay match fees pakki inki. Inko to tomatoes parnay chahaye.

Good decision, seniors should be rested, and new talent should be given chance to find out backups. Asad Shafiq , haris Sohail and particularly Muhammad Abbas should be considered.
