T20 World Cup 2024: Kieron Pollard joins England as assistant coach

The 37-year-old was present in the defending champions' first training session

Former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard has joined the England men's cricket team as an assistant coach of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

The 37-year-old was present in the defending champions' first training session after arriving in Barbados.

Pollard was announced as Matthew Mott's assistant in December last year as Jos Buttler and Co. eye to win back-to-back titles in the West Indies and United States.

Pollard has represented West Indies in 101 T20Is and was part of the T20 World Cup-winning squad in 2012, he also captained them in the 2021 edition. He retired from international cricket in 2022 but is still active in the franchise-league circuit.

Pollard captained the New York Strikers to victory in the Abu Dhabi T10 League last year and the Trinbago Knight Riders to the final of CPL 2023. He was part of MI Emirates in the ILT20 2024 which won the title and represented Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine. He is Mumbai Indians' batting coach in the IPL.
