Former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull predicted the semi-finalists for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 which is set to be played in the United States and West Indies.

Doull, who represented New Zealand in 74 international matches and bagged 134 wickets, believed that England, despite being a very good batting side, would not do good on West Indies pitches. He then went on to name India and South Africa as two sides that are capable of lifting the tournament.

Doull's World Cup semi-finalists are India, South Africa, Australia and West Indies.

“No England for me. They are a very good 230-240 side on batter-friendly pitches but not for me in West Indies. India and South Africa can win the tournament. I will put Australia and West Indies in as semi-finalists as well,” Doull said while talking to Cricbuzz.

England will play all of their World Cup matches in West Indies where the pitches are normally slow and high-scoring encounters are not expected.

A total of 20 teams are taking part in the tournament with names like Uganda who will be playing their first-ever T20 World Cup.

England are the defending champions, they claimed the title for the second time in history by defeating Babar Azam-led Pakistan in the final at Australia’s Melbourne Cricket Ground where Ben Stokes, their hero of the 2019 50-over World Cup final, once again cruised them to victory.

The teams are divided into four groups consisting of five teams, with the top two sides from each group then advancing to the Super Eight phase of the tournament ahead of the knockout semi-finals and final.
