Pakistan’s 2009 World Cup-winning team clinches exhibition match in Houston

KARACHI: Pakistan’s T20 World Cup-winning team won an exhibition match by 10 runs against Knight Riders United in Houston the other day, according to The News.

The match was held at the invitation of Majid Rizvi at the Mosa Cricket Stadium in Houston.

Pakistan managed 170 in 20 overs after Younis Khan decided to bat first. Opener Kamran Akmal scored 41, Fawad Alam 48, Abdul Razzaq 37, while Shahid Afridi scored a blistering 26.

In reply, Knight Riders United got a good start as Bishnoi scored a brilliant 82 runs, but they fell short by 10 runs.

For Pakistan, Abdul Razzaq took three wickets, Umar Gul two and Misbah-ul-Haq one.

A delegation comprising the players of the 2009 T20 cricket team — Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shahid Afridi, Saeed Ajmal, Shoaib Malik Fawad, Alam Abdul Razzaq Kamran and Ajmal Umar Gul — visited different states of the United States under the banner of "Jeet Ka Safar".

On its arrival in Houston and Dallas, the delegation was warmly welcomed and many events, including a cricket match, were organised.

Rafa Ahmed, the organiser of the “Jeet Ka Safar” programme, said that the experience of taking the Pakistani team to visit US was very successful and he planned to bring Indian and Pakistani teams to visit US in the future.
