Suryakumar Yadav has been cleared by the National Cricket Academy and will join Mumbai Indians tomorrow for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, according to Cricbuzz.

The No.1 ranked T20I batter last took the field in December 2023, when he notched up a hundred in the third T20I against South Africa. However, a grade 2 tear of his ankle during the series led to surgery.

Suryakumar’s return was further delayed as he underwent an operation for sports hernia. He continued his rehabilitation at the NCA facility in Bengaluru.

The 33-year old will join Mumbai ahead of their next home game against Delhi Capitals, an afternoon match set to take place on April 7.

The team management will decide about his participation based on how he performs in the net session in terms of fitness.

Suryakumar is likely to be included in the XI if he is declared fit after net sessions or else his return will be delayed till Mumbai take on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru next Thursday.

The right-hander was in sublime form during the last edition of IPL, scoring over 600 runs with one century and five fifties.

Mumbai Indians have made a poor start to IPL 2024 and have lost three matches in a row under new skipper Hardik Pandya.
