Peshawar Zalmi captain and star batter Babar Azam credited his mother for scoring the hundred against Islamabad United on Monday during the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine.

Speaking after the match, Azam said that his mother came to watch a match for the first time.

"My mother came [to watch] for the first time. She's very happy. She enjoyed it. She always watches at home but she proved to be [a source of] good luck for me. She came to watch the match and I scored a hundred,” Azam said after the match.

It must be noted that Azam's 11th T20 century and Arif Yaqoob's fifer helped Peshawar Zalmi beat Islamabad United by eight runs in the 13th match of PSL 9.

After posting a 202-run target, Peshawar restricted Islamabad to 193/9. This was Peshawar's third straight win in the competition.

Islamabad appeared poised for victory following a remarkable fourth-wicket partnership between Colin Munro and Azam Khan, but Yaqoob's four-wicket haul in the 19th over swung the momentum back in Peshawar's favour.

This marks the first instance in PSL history where a bowler has claimed four wickets in a single over, with Yaqoob concluding with figures of 5/27.
