South Korea defeated Bahrain 3-1 during the ongoing AFC Asian Cup on Monday at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.

South Korea gained one spot and Bahrain dropped two places in the FIFA Live Rankings after the match.

Korea are now in 22nd place on the FIFA Rankings, meanwhile Bahrain have slipped to 88th on the table.

Lee Kang-in's superb double helped the Taegeuk Warriors open Group E with a win.

Lee has impressed at PSG since joining from Mallorca last summer and he got Jurgen Klinsmann´s side out of trouble in Doha against a spirited Bahrain who equalised early in the second half.

With the score level at 1-1 after goals from Hwang In-Beom and Bahrain's Abdullah Al-Hashsash, Lee took charge of proceedings with two lethal strikes that had the South Korean fans at the small 15,000 capacity arena screaming in delight.

Tottenham Hotspur talisman Son was guilty of two glaring misses and suffered the indignity of a late yellow card for diving in the Bahrain box.

But Klinsmann will not mind after watching his team make a winning start as they look to end their Asian Cup title drought in Qatar.

Yesterday, Palestine dropped one place to 100 in the FIFA Rankings after losing 4-1 to Iran. The winning side remained at 21st place on the table.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong also dropped one place and now sit at 151 after going down 3-1 against the UAE, in 63rd place, on Sunday.

Korea will lock horns with Jordan next on Saturday while Bahrain will attempt to keep their hopes alive against Malaysia.
