The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has warned Balochistan opener Imamul Haq to not embroil Quaid-e-Azam (QeA) Trophy in needless controversies by saying negative things, Daily Jang reported on Thursday.

Earlier this week, Imam had accused the Sarfaraz Ahmed-led Sindh of playing with a negative mindset and bowling negative lines, and held them responsible for his laborious century that pushed their QeA clash towards a draw.

In return, Sindh coach Azam Khan had told Imam to focus on the game and not critique the opposition's strategy.

A PCB spokesperson said that the board has taken notice of Imam's remarks, and advised him to say positive things instead of making the country's biggest tournament controversial.

The spokesperson said that although Imam was not charged by the match referee, he has been explained what he did wrong.

The PCB, via an email, has also directed match referees, head coaches, team managers to keep the press conferences and media talks "positive" or else action will be taken as per the board's code of conduct.

Imam, meanwhile, had reportedly met Sarfaraz after the drawn match and apologised to him.
