Former Test cricketer Mansoor Akhtar was on Friday interrogated by International Cricket Council's (ICC) Anti-Corruption Unit officer Steve Richardson in Karachi regarding an alleged spot-fixing scandal.

Akhtar, as per Daily Jang, was called in for questioning by the ICC officer. PCB's ACU officer Colonel Asif Mahmood was also present in the meeting which took place at the National Stadium.

Mansoor was grilled for an hour in which he verified the meeting with Umar Akmal but denied the spot-fixing claims.

Mansoor had allegedly approached Akmal during the Global T20 Canada league to offer the batsman a spot-fixing deal. The former cricketer was a part of management of one of the franchises. Akmal, in turn, had reported the matter to the organisers as well as the ICC.

Richardson did not comment on the matter but is to meet Akmal in Lahore.

“We don’t know what took place in the meeting but the ICC officer had called Mansoor to the stadium and he spent over an hour with him,” a source in the PCB revealed.
