Former Pakistan cricketer Naushad Ali, who played six Test matches, passed away in Islamabad on Sunday.

His funeral prayers will be offered at the H-11 graveyard later today.

The Pakistan Cricket Board Management Committee, executives and employees expressed grief and sorrow over the passing of the 79-year-old.

Naushad, wicketkeeper-batter, played all six Test matches of his career against New Zealand in 1965. He scored 156 runs in 11 innings and claimed nine catches behind the stumps during his brief international career.

He also worked for the PCB as the manager of the Pakistan men’s team and had also served as a match referee.

In a message, PCB Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf said: “On behalf of the PCB, I want to express my deepest condolences on the sad demise of Naushad Ali.

“We share the grief of his friends and family and extend our deepest sympathies.”
