Real Madrid ended their pre-season with a 3-1 loss against Juventus in their last game of the US tour at the Camping World Stadium, Florida, on Wednesday (August 2).

Madrid won two games and lost as many in their tour and it seemed like a good pre-season for Los Blancos as Carlo Ancelotti tested a different formation.

Juventus had a brilliant start to their game. They scored within the first minute with Moise Kean getting on the scoresheet for The Old Lady.

Madrid were not organized defensively and left a huge gap in the centre of their midfield which allowed Kean to position himself well, although he scored on a rebound.

Madrid’s defence remained unorganized and allowed Juventus to score one more after a fantastic sequence of passing which was finished by Timothy Weah in the 20th minute.

However, Madrid pulled one back in the 38th minute with an eye-catching counter-attack. Toni Kroos played an excellent through ball to Vinicius Jr. who outpaced Juventus’ Gleison Bremer and scored.

The Whites were dominant throughout the game — playing possession-based football — they had more shots and more possession, but the last touch was missing as despite 34 shots with eight on target, they only scored one goal.

The game ended with Juventus scoring one more during additional minutes, taking the score line to 3-1 with Dusan Vlahovic scoring on a counter-attack as Madrid’s defence, once again, was wide open.

It must be noted that Madrid is struggling big time to convert their chances and to organize their defence. In the last two games, they took a total of 63 shots and only scored one.

On the other hand, they faced 23 shots and conceded six goals.

However, despite obvious problems, Carlo Ancelotti remained positive and said that it was a great pre-season.

“It has been a positive pre-season,” said Ancelotti in a post-match conference. “We have to improve defensively. We have to fix our defence, it is an easy problem to solve.”

When asked how he would rate Madrid’s pre-season out of ten, the Italian replied: “I give our pre-season 6/10.”
