Mickey Arthur was also of the view that the head coach should also be the chief selector in Pakistan setup, according to former wicketkeeper Rashid Latif.

Misbahul Haq was handed the dual role recently, much to the chagrin of his critics. But Latif has come forward to clarify that the exception was not made solely for Misbah, and that his predecessor Arthur had also shared the view.

Latif, as per Daily Jang, said in a TV interview that he got the chance to work with Arthur during their time together for the Pakistan Super League franchise, Karachi Kings.

He recalled that Arthur was also of the view that by handing over the selection responsibility to the head coach, the team's problems could be eased.
