Pakistan reach Maldives to participate in five-nation Basketball Championship

The green shirts will participate in an international event after seven years

KARACHI: Pakistan team has reached Maldives Wednesday to participate in the five-nation Basketball Championship, starting tomorrow. 

The championship will run from June 15 to 22 in Maldives. Apart from Pakistan, hosts Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh are participating in the event. 

Before leaving for the championship, national basketball team met Pakistan Sports Board (PSB)'s DG Shoaib Khoso. During the meeting, Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBF)'s president Mohammad Iftikhar Mansoor was also present. 

DG PSB was briefed on team's preparations for the championship. 

"The team has been prepared on merit and they are ready to win the event," said PBF's president. 

In return, Khoso wished good luck to the team. "My prayers and best wishes are with the team. I hope these players make Pakistan proud," he said. 

"This is a wonderful opportunity for our young players. PSB will continue supporting sports and athletes in the country," the PSB chief added. 

It must be noted here that a one-month long camp was set-up for the national players. This will be Pakistan's participation in any international basketball event after seven years. It will help the team prepare for the upcoming Asian Games.
