Misbahul Haq's eye-watering salary demands could prove to be a stumbling block in his appointment as the Pakistan cricket team's new head coach, according to Express News.

Currently, incharge of the team's pre-season training camp, Misbah is odds-on favourite to become the new head coach.

According to senior journalist Saleem Khaliq, however, he has several disagreements with the board over the terms of his employment, chiefly among which is his demands for parity with his predecessor in terms of remuneration.

Mickey Arthur, the most recent Pakistan head coach, was reportedly paid $20,000 per month, which amounted to approximately Rs3.1 million.

Misbah, as per the report, wants to be paid just as much as Arthur, which the PCB is extremely reluctant to cough up, especially for a local coach.

In addition to his 'package', the board also wants to bar their next coaching staffers from working in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) — something that Misbah has his eye on.

The twin impediments were why Misbah deliberated until the August 26 deadline day to apply for the position, even though he is widely believed to have a massive edge over his competition.
