British boxer Amir Khan announced on Saturday his plans to visit Pakistan and the Line of Control ( LoC) to “bring greater awareness to the terrible situation in Kashmir”.
The pugilist, who represents Britain but has roots in Pakistan through his family, hoped that his visit would serve as a “call for peace” in the Indian-occupied Kashmir.
In an earlier tweet, Khan had acknowledged “a lot of innocent people are suffering” in Kashmir, and had thanked Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor for giving him the opportunity to visit the restive region.
