PAK vs AFG: 'Will give my best for the star on my chest,' says Saim Ayub

Saim alongside Tayyab Tahir, Zaman Khan, and Ihsanullah will make their T20I debut today

Pakistan's young batting sensation Saim Ayub is confident to give his best for the national side as they take on Afghanistan in three-match T20I series today in Sharjah. 

As per the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announcement, Saim alongside Tayyab Tahir, Zaman Khan, and Ihsanullah will make their T20I debut today. 

In a shared interview, Saim said he is looking forward to keeping the respect of the star on his chest. 

"I will give my best for the star on my chest," the youngster said. "Every time I played cricket, I just aimed to wear green jersey one day. I never thought of getting a chance in the Pakistan team this early. I will try my best to make my country proud of my performance," he added. 

Saim is most likely to open Pakistan's batting alongside Mohammad Haris. While talking about his potential opening partner Haris, Saim said his chemistry with the wicket-keeper batter is good. "My chemistry with Haris is good. Our batting style is same, it will be fun batting alongside him," he concluded. 

On Thursday, Saim took to Instagram to share his feelings after he was a strong candidate to make the T20I debut today. 

"I wanted you from the day one. I wanted to do everything to have you , now I've earned you so I promise I'll do everything to never let you down Pakistan. Keep supporting and Remembering in your prayers in this Holy month of Ramadan," he wrote.

Saim earned maiden call in Pakistan team after his excellent performance for Peshawar Zalmi in Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8. With Babar Azam and Rizwan resting during Afghanistan series, Saim alongside Mohammad Haris is most likely to open national team's batting.

The left-handed batter opened innings alongside skipper Babar for Zalmi in recently concluded PSL 8. His stylish batting and consistency made him a solid candidate for the Pakistan team's call-up. He scored 341 runs in 12 matches in the tournament.
