The Indian cricket team is allegedly under the threat of a terrorist attack, according to an anonymous email received by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday.

The incident, reported by several publications, including the Times of India, details that the email sent to the PCB only says that the attack on the Indian team is “imminent” but does not mention by whom or which group.

The board, upon receiving the email, immediately forwarded it to the International Cricket Council, which relayed it to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

It is pertinent to mention here that the Virat Kohli-led India is currently in Antigua, preparing for the first Test against the West Indies, which starts on Thursday.

The BCCI informed the Indian government and approached the Indian Embassy in Antigua but in the end rejected the threat, as per Deccan Chronicles.

As a measure of precaution, however, the Indian board could decide to beef up the team’s security in the Caribbean.
