Pakistani-born umpire Aleem Dar on Thursday levelled the record of Steve Bucknor for umpiring the most Test matches.

The 51-year old umpire officiated a match for the 128th time when he took the field during the second Ashes Test between England and Australia at Lord’s.

He made his Test debut in a match between Bangladesh and England in Dhaka in October 2003. Since then, he has umpired a total of 376 matches across all formats.

“It’s a great honour to equal the number of Test matches of my role model, umpire Steve Bucknor,” he stated in a tweet posted by the International Cricket Council.
