MELBOURNE: Australia captain Aaron Finch is a big fan of Pakistan-India cricket matches, which is why he is eagerly waiting for the day he retires in order to watch the highly-anticipated clash live.

Finch watched the recent Pakistan-India match in the T20 World Cup 2022 in his hotel room.

"Regardless of what the result is...I think the India-Pakistan game was amazing. I was actually sitting at home, nervous! I was nervous in the build-up watching that because I know how big a clash it is and I can't wait for the day that I can retire and go and watch an India-Pakistan game live somewhere," said Finch in an interview to journalist Melinda Farrell on her YouTube channel.

"I was sitting on the couch in my hotel room and I was nervous in the build-up, it's quite strange, yeah," he added.

An unbeaten 82 from Virat Kohli led India to a stunning last-ball win over Pakistan to supercharge their bid for a first T20 World Cup crown since 2007 in front of 90,000 fans at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.

Finch also heaped praise on Kohli while talking about the India batter’s match-winning knock against Pakistan.

"What it was...was a Virat Kohli masterclass! You always felt even though…with three overs to go that if you're still there...you know the amount of pressure that he puts on the opposition just by being there and yeah it was just great viewing," he concluded.

Australia, who are set to face England today, have lost one of their two games in a tough Group 1. Another defeat for the hosts would severely dent their semi-finals hopes.

However, rain in Melbourne delayed the start of the crucial Super 12 match between defending champions Australia and England.

Persistent rain also washed out the first game of a double-header, between Afghanistan and Ireland, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
