Afghan fans clash with Pakistan supporters, security officials at Headingley

A group of Afghanistan fans reportedly gained illegal entry into Headingley Cricket Ground and clashed with security officials, Pakistan fans as well as members of the media.

Headingley is where Pakistan and Afghanistan cricket teams are playing their World Cup 2019 match.

The said fans, sporting Afghan colours, purportedly scaled the stadium walls and later clashed with Pakistani supporters.

An unconfirmed video circulating on social media shows an Afghan fan throwing kicks and being subdued by who appear to be security personnel.

The fans also allegedly harassed media personnel who were capturing the footage of the attack.

Clash between rivals fans are a regular occurrence at football matches but not at cricket stadiums.
