Veteran Indian batter Virat Kohli has called pacer Jasprit Bumrah a 'national treasure' and the '8th Wonder of the World.'

Remarkably, Bumrah's performance in the T20 World Cup 2024 will be remembered as one of the greatest individual campaigns in the tournament's history.

Bumrah took 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 and bowled an economy rate of just 4.17. He is the first bowler to bag Player of the Tournament award across nine editions.

During the special event at the Wankhede, presenter Gaurav Kapoor told Kohli that he is thinking of signing a petition to declare Jasprit Bumrah a national treasure. "I am thinking of signing a petition to declare Jasprit Bumrah as a national treasure. Will you sign it?," he asked. "I will sign it right now," Kohli responded.

“I am sure like, everyone in this stadium, we also felt that - man, is it going to slip away? What I want everyone to do is applaud a guy, who brought us back in the tournament again, and again, and again. A huge shoutout to Jasprit Bumrah. We are lucky that he plays for us,” Kohli added.

Remember, Team India paraded in Mumbai from the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) to Wankhede Stadium.

Fans crowded the streets, particularly along Marine Drive, switching on their torches to create a mesmerising visual spectacle as the champions' procession advanced.

Earlier today, the team was treated with shouts of "India, India" after it touched down at Delhi airport from Barbados, having been delayed for days by Hurricane Beryl.

Later. the squad met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Rohit and his team wore Indian jerseys emblazoned with "Champions", as broadcasters showed images of them meeting the premier.

Modi posed for a photograph with the team before sitting down for a chat with the players.
