Former England captain Michael Vaughan’s son, Archie Vaughan,is set to make his Test debut for England’s U19 team during a two-Test series against Sri Lanka which begins next week.

Archie was named in England’s 14-member squad alongside another former England player Andrew Flintoff’s son, Rocky Flintoff.

Archie, a top-order batter and off-spinner, signed a contract with Somerset earlier this season but did not get to make his first-team debut.

Recently, he played at age-group level last week where he played an 83-ball 85-run knock for Young Lions Invitational XI in a warm-up match against the England U19 ODI squad.

Michael Vaughan and Andrew Flintoff played a total of 48 Test matches together between 1999 and 2008 and now their sons will have a chance of carrying their fathers’ legacy and starting their own journey.

Hamza Shaikh, who played two Youth Test against Australia last year, will lead the squad as he will also play England’s first team warm-up Test match against West Indies at Beckenham this week.

"They've helped me and given me more confidence in my leadership on and off the field, advising on bowling options and field placements," Shaikh told Warwickshire's website. "I like to think I'm a fairly calm guy and captaincy doesn't faze me. I'm looking forward to the challenge and hopefully coming away with a series win.”
